The best wishes of everyone for a quick recovery are extended to the Sport & Leisure Swifts Res player Kevin Murphy and the FC Whiteabbey player Thomas McKinney who both suffered a leg fracture and were taken to Hospital by Ambulance. Both Kevin and Thomas are to undergo surgery on Sunday Morning.

On the league front across all four divisions we were fortunate to only lose one game due to a wet pitch




MAGHERAFELT SKY BLUES                         0              DESERTMARTIN               0

This was a keenly fought derby game with both teams setting out their stall early in the match making chances around goal hard to get. Half-time came and no goals had been scored then on the hour Desertmartin had a man sent off for being the last defender and the Sky Blues receiving a penalty. David Nelson the Desertmartin Keeper was his team’s saviour making a great save and at the end of a pulsating game it was a point to each team.   Referee Mr. David Moore

                                BALLYNURE OB                                3              WAKEHURST     1

This was big win for Ballynure who have been a bit of hit and miss this season while Wakehurst had won six and drawn two from eight league games played. Ballynure had a chance to score before Kevin Amuneke scored to put them in front on the 25th minute. Ballynure went two goals in front after Kevin Amuneke scored his second goal on the 36th minute and this score remained at half-time. Ballynure went three goals clear after Craig Richardson scored on the 56th minute then had man sent off on the 75th minute. Wakehurst pulled a goal back when Andy Laughlin scored on the 76th minute then had man sent off on the 85th minute.

                                                DUNLOY                               0              NEWTOWNE       3

This season it has been Newtowne who missed penalties but in this game it was Dunloy who missed two penalties at crucial times in the game. Newtowne took the lead on the 22nd minute with a cracking goal scored by Conor Logue. This goal separated the teams at half-time then on the 50th minute Dunloy saw their penalty go over the crossbar. Minutes later Paul McIvor put Newtowne into a two goal lead before Dunloy second penalty missed this time going wide of the goals on the 68th minute. Newtowne then sealed the win after Ricky King scored their third goal on the 78th minute.     Referee Mr. Keith Halliday 





                                                WOODLANDS                    5              SPORT & LEISURE SWIFTS RES 2

This game was stopped on the 82nd minute due to a serious injury suffered by the Sports player Kevin Murphy who was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg. Woodlands went in at half-time leading by four goals scored by Ross Oliver hat-trick and Alex Haggan. Ciaran McKissock and Steve McCann pulled a couple of goals back for the Sports early in the second half before Alex Haggan added number five for Woodlands. Play was then running down when the game was stopped.                            Referee Mr. Brian Leitch

                                                ANTRIM ROVERS             2              FC WHITEABBEY              2

This game was held up for a time with 15 minutes left to play due to an FC Whiteabbey player Thomas McKinney having to be taken to Hospital with a leg fracture. The Rovers took the lead after Darren Adair scored on the 24th minute and this goal separated the teams at half-time. Ryan O’Neil equalised for Whiteabbey on the 50th minute. Both teams had a chance or two before Conor Mullen scored on the 73rd minute putting Whiteabbey in front and this goal winning the game.        Referee Mr. Noel Crossan

                                MALLUSK ATHLETIC                      2              RATHCOOLE FC               3

Rathcoole went in front after Nathan Stranaghan scored on the 11th minute and though both teams had chances to score this goal divided the teams at half-time. Mallusk got back on level terms after Adam Frew scored on the 70th minute setting the game up for a grandstand finish. Ryan Caskey scored for Rathcoole on the 78th minute followed by Darren Cosby scoring number three on the 83rd minute.                Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger

Ballynure continued with their unbeaten league run with this win over one of the close rivals at the top of the league table. Jonny Kane was on the score sheet for Ballynure with a brace of goals and their third was scored by Mark Moore.     Referee Mr. Paul Aston

This was a close game between two teams with promotion at the end of season their target. Ballyclare went in front after Aaron Reid scored on the 31st minute and held this advantage at half-time. Castle got back on level terms after Dean Meneely scored on the 57th minute and then got the winner on the with Dean Meneely scoring his second goal on the 75th minute.          Referee Mr. Rodney Campbell

                                WAKEHURST STROLLERS           3              MOUNTAINVIEW              1

Wakehurst went in front after Charles Allen scored on the 5th minute this goal separating the teams until Neil Anderson scored the equaliser for Mountainview on the 44th minute. Wakehurst went in front for a second time when Matthew Logan scored on the 50th minute then secured the win after Jordan Walker scored goal number three on the 70th minute. Referee Mr. Adrian Dodds

This was a very close game in the first-half and a goal for the Old Boys scored by Dave Blair and James Brown for Remo saw the team’s level at half-time. The Old Boys went on to score three more goals with Dave Blair completing his hat-trick and Aaron Knell to one scored by Dylan Lemahieu for Remo.     Referee Mr. Iain Banks

The Swifts who had a 100% record from Six games played going into this game were soon into their stride taking the lead after Jack McLean scored on the 5th minute. Jack McLean scored his second goal on the 18th minute followed by Glenn Vance scoring on the 31st minute before half-time. Glenn Vance then scored two more goals to complete his hat-trick on the 60th and 70th minute then with time running down Eddie Kocherian scored a consolation goal for North End.                     Referee Mr. Tommy Waide

These two teams share the same pitch at Loughside and it was Brantwood who were quicker to the ball on a fast surface going in at half-time leading by three goals scored by Steve Leckey. Dave Shaw made it four nil early in the second half then Scott Hamilton added number five. Dave Shaw completed the scoring with a brace of goals to complete his hat-trick. Referee Mr. Paul Leckey

                                1st CARRICKFERGUS OB                0              RED STAR           1

1st Carrickfergus went into this game undefeated in their previous Six league games but failed to show this form in the first-half when no goals were scored. Red Star played it tight at the back in the second half and on the 60th minute Noel O’Connor scored what proved to be the winning goal in this derby game.

Whitehead and the referee waited until 30 minutes after the scheduled kick off time but 18th Newtownabbey failed to show up. This will now be decided on by the League Committee

This was a good win for the Olympic and takes them into the last Sixteen of the Competition. James McGahan scored on the 26th minute which saw the Olympic in front at half-time. The Olympic had a few more good chances to score before Tiernan Brennan scored their second goal on the 75th minute. Time was then running out when Lurgan got a goal back on the 85th minute.

Unfortunately one of our teams had to lose this Cookstown derby thus going out of the competition. Chances were there for both teams in the first-half and it was two goals scored by Drew Kelly and James Leslie on the 40th and 41st minutes that saw the Youth clear at half-time. The youth got a third goal scored by Ryan O’Neil on the 48th minute and though RBL tried hard to get back into the game the Youth held form for the win.

An own goal concede by teh Reds on the 30th minute saw their near neighbours go in front. The Swifts then doubled their lead after David Rowe scored on the 40th minute then a penalty converted by Chris Kerr on the 42nd minutes saw the Swifts go three goals clear. Half-time was almost reached when David Rowe scored his second goal giving the Swifts a four goal cushion at the break. The Reds pulled a goal back on the 50th minute but after this the Swifts closed up shop and on the 85th minute Gary Brown scored their fifth goal in the game.

This was a poor result for Newington who with home advantage had hopes of progressing into the next round. Ballybogey had other ideas scoring three and only conceding one to progress.
