        SEASON 2017-18

Three games fell victim to the wet weather on Friday night and Saturday morning. Crawford Cup games and in these Woodlands came from 4-1 down at half-time to defeat Ballynure OB 5-4 after extra-time. Bangor were also at home against another Junior One Team FC Whiteabbey getting through by a single goal scored in the first-half. In the Linda Welshman Memorial Cup Rathcoole FC and Castle Star progressed to the next round with wins over Antrim Rovers Swifts and Northend United Youth.

In a mid-week McReynolds Cup game Dunloy beat Glebe Rangers by the only goal in the game

In the Junior Division Three league game it was stopped by the referee on the 40th minute due to an injury to the Carnlough Player Jordan McNeil who was taken to hospital by Ambulance. Everyone wishes Jordan a speedy return to fitness and back playing again.

St JAMES SWIFTS            1              GLEBE RANGERS              2

Three very valuable points were at stake in this game with both teams well behind other on games played due to good cup runs. Glebe went in front for a second time after Joshua Elliott scored on the 56th minute and after this the Swifts went all-out for the equaliser but found Glebe defending well to claim the points at the final whistle.

Referee Mr. Bart Ubanski

                                DESERTMARTIN               2              COAGH UNITED 2

Desertmartin hit back with Robin Patton scoring on the 18th minute and then taking the lead after Robin Patton scored his second goal on the 32nd minute. Coagh got back on level terms after James Ferguson scored on the 47th minute. After this both teams went all-out for the winner but though there were near missed it was a point each at full time.

BANGOR FC                       1              FC WHITEABBEY              0

Bangor were certainly favourites going into this cup tie but were certainly given a run for their money by the Junior Division One team who came out of the game with plenty of credit. Both teams are used to playing on a 3g pitch and this was well to the fore in how they were able to control the ball. The only goal in the game was scored by Ross Craig who brought the ball under control before swivelling and shooting into the top corner of the net on the 33rd minute. The Whiteabbey Keeper came out of the game with flying colours after making three super saves to deny Bangor.        Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger

                                BALLYNURE OB                4              WOODLANDS         5         (After extra-time)

Ballynure will be wondering how they let a three nil lead and then  a four one lead at half-time slip but on the other hand you have to give it to Woodlands who never gave up the chase winning the game with the only goal scored in extra-time. Two goals scored by Ricky Higgins and one from Kyle Agnew saw Ballynure go three goals clear after half an hour.  Woodlands pulled a goal back through Alex Haggan before Christopher McIlwaine restored the Ballynure three goal advantage. Stuart McCullough pulled goal back from the penalty spot for Woodlands early in the second half then goals from Alex Haggan and Stuart McCullough saw Woodlands back on level terms. The game then went into extra-time with Alex Haggan completing his hat-trick in the second period to take Woodlands into the next round away to Newtowne.            Referee Mr. Paul Douglas
