After the incessant rain during the week it was fairly dry on Friday night which saw all but one of the scheduled games played. In the Intermediate Division there were home wins for Sofia Farmer, St James Swifts, Desertmartin and Glebe Rangers while Bangor won away from hole.

In the IFA junior Cup 1st Round it was a mixed bag of Results with Five teams winning, Two losing on Penalties and another Five losing in the Twelve ties played




                SOFIA FARMER                                2              COAGH UNITED 1

After a good start by both teams Sofia went in front after Francisco Gusmao scored on the 19th minute. Coagh came back to equalise after William Ferguson scored on the 42nd minute putting the teams back level at half-time. Sofia went in front for a second time after Roberson Ribeiro scored on the 47th minute and then defended this advantage until the final whistle. Referee Mr. Dermott Monaghan


                St JAMES SWIFTS                            3              DUNLOY               2

The Swifts were on the attack from the kick off taking a two goal lead inside the first twenty minute through a brace of goals scored by Terry McGrath and held this lead at half-time. Dunloy got back into the game after Karl Fitzpatrick scored on the 61st minute. After this both teams had a man sent off for two yellow cards then John John McFerran hit home the equaliser on the 70th minute. Dunloy then had a second man sent off and defended well until Eugene Gallagher scored on the 88th minute to win the game for the Swifts,

                DESERTMARTIN                               3              NEWTOWNE FC                0

Both teams played it very tight in the first-half resulting in no goals being scored at the break. Things changed in the second half when Mark Shields opened the scoring for Desertmartin on the 68th minute then a second goal with Mark Scott scoring on the 78th minute. Newtowne then threw caution to the wind in an effort to get back into the game but this was to no avail with Mark Shields completing the scoring with his second goal on the 86th minute.                   Referee Mr. Gary Crawford


                COOKSTOWN RBL                          0              BANGOR FC       3

This was certainly going to be a big test for RBL up against a team with plenty of experience at various levels of the game. RBL played it tight and at half-time trailed by a goal scored by Gerard McMullan on the 25th minute. Bangor went two goals in front after an unfortunate own goal conceded by RBL on the 49th minute then got a third goal scored by Niall Atkinson on the 64th minute that sealed the win.                Referee Mr. Darren Hylands


                GLEBE RANGERS                              4              COOKSTOWN YOUTH                    1

Glebe took an early lead in this game after Sammy Shaw scored on the 10th minute but then had to wait until the 48th minute for their second goal scored by Jake Francis. Jake Francis then scored his second goal on the 63rd minute followed by Chris Nicholl scoring on the 75th minute. The Youth to their credit kept going getting a deserved goal when Steve Arrell scored on the 88th minute.         Referee Mr. Simon McKay

Brantwood went in front after Stewart McCormick scored on the 20th minute then scored a second on the 31st minute. Stephen Wilson then added goal number three on the 35th minute followed by number four scored by Mark Tweedie on the 43rd minute. Brantwood then got a fifth goal scored by Mark Tweedie on the 56th minute completing the scoring on the day.            Referee. Mr. Bert Purdy.

After a steady start by both teams Killymoon went two goals in front after Trevor Brownlee scored on the 20th and 29th minutes. Stefan Shiels then made it three nil on the 32nd minute then it became four after William Frizzle scored on the 55th minute. Aaron Foster pulled a goal back for Brantwood on the 60th minute but Killymoon went on to score another three goals by Chris McNicholl 63rd, Richard Donaghy 75th and Mervyn Kirk converting a penalty on the 83rd minutes.                                Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger


COOKSTOWN YOUTH COLTS                     5              NORTHEND UNITED YOUTH         1             

This was an even enough game at the start in it was on the 28th minute before the Colts went in front with James McCracken scoring. Martin McCracken made it two nil for the Colts on the 54th minute then they had a man sent off.  Northend got back into the game after Ryan McNeil scored on the 57th minute before 

Piotr Gabrystak scored a third for the Colts on the 64th minute.  Paul Stewart then made it four one on the 80th minute followed by Barry Kelly converting a penalty on the 90th minute.          Referee Mr. Ian Shiels


                COOKSTOWN RBL RES                 2              MALLUSK ATHLETIC     3

RBL went in front after Timmy McLean scored on the 9th minute then an own goal conceded by Mallusk on the 13th minute saw RBL two goals clear. Chris Kelly pulled a goal back for Mallusk on the 25th minute then scored his second goal in the game on the 57th minute. Mallusk then went on to win the game after Joel O’Hara scored on the 78th minute.               Referee Mr. Samuel Forsythe


68th NEWTOWNABBEY OB ‘A’                     1              CLOUGH RANGERS ATHLETIC    2

With the official referee having to cry off an hour before the game and no replacement available the teams agreed to toss for an official. Clough went in front after Chris McDonald scored on the 40th minute putting his team in front at half-time. William Dunlop made it two nil from the penalty spot on the 52nd minute. The 68th came back into the game after David Blair scored on the 79th minute but failed to get the equaliser.

North Belfast went in front though a goal scored by Jon Fox then Andy Scott equalised for Carrick. As half-time was then approaching Jon Derry scored putting North Belfast back in front. North Belfast added two more goals with Niall Stewart and Blair Hunter scoring before Tom Simms scored a second goal for Carrick. Time was then running down when James Brown scored goal number five for North Belfast.                Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins

Rathcoole went in front after James Doyle scored on the 6th minute and held this lead until Jordan Hastings equalised for Greenisland on the 34th minute. Greenisland then went in front after Gary Kelly scored on the 37th minute only to see Brian Black scored the equaliser for Rathcoole on the 44thminute. The second half saw Rathcoole on top scoring three goals through Brian Black 65th, Paul Waite 69th and James Doyle 79th minutes without reply.      Referee Mr. Richard Stewart

The Olympic were in front at half-time thanks to a goal scored by Nigel Johnston on the 6th minute then he scored his second goal on the 46th minute putting the Olympic two goals clear. Rooftop pulled goal back on the 49th minute bur the Olympic replied with four goal scored by Liam Mullan 52nd and 80th minute  and Nigel Johnston on the 72nd and 85th minute bringing his tally to four in the game.

This tie having been postponed the previous Saturday was moved to the PSNI ground with the pitch at Doagh not being playable.  North End went in front after Jon Gracey scored on the 2nd minute then the Olympic took over and in particular in the second half scoring eight goals in total.

The home side took the lead in this game then a goal scored by Tony McCune saw the Rangers take the game to extra-time and penalty kicks. At the end it was the Windmill who converted four penalties against the Rangers two who went through.

Castle lead by a goal scored by Paul Matthews saw the Castle in front at half-time. Five more goals scored by Paul Matthews, Warren Brown, Andy Hall, Joel McMurtry and Nathan Poulter saw Castle into the next round.

Red Star went in ay half-time on level terms after a goal scored by Michael Rankin on the 44th minute. The second half saw the visitors score three more goals without reply.

The visitors had the upper hand in this game and ran out clear winners at the final whistle.


                DERRYHIRK UNITED                        5              DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS              3

Desertmartin were in with a shout in this game through goals scored by Ryan Brown Penalty, Nathan Miller and an own goal but the home side clinched the game late on.


LAMBEG RANGERS                         0              BALLYNURE OB ‘B’         1

Ballynure took an early lead in the tie with Kyle Abernethy scoring on the 10th minute and defended this goal until the final whistle.                        


                TANDRAGEE ROVERS RES           4              WOODLANDS    4 (Tandragee win 7-6 on Penalties)

This as a cracking game and goals scored by Sammy Chambers, Stuart McCullough (2) and Jon McFetridge saw Woodlands into a penalty shoot-out. In the end it was the home side who converted 7 penalties to 6 by Woodlands

This was a good win for Newington and goals scored by Daniel Moore (2), Dave Finlay (2), Conal McKeown (2) and two OG saw a comfortable win.

This was a good win for Antrim who went in front after Jordan McKelvey scored on the 5th minute. Darren Adair made it two nil on the 44th minute then Johnny Rogers sealed the win with a third goal on the 65th minute.
