Saturday was certainly a good day for our Intermediate teams playing in the IFA Intermediate Cup as Six of the eight teams playing namely: Glebe Rangers, Newtowne, Sofia Farmer, Brantwood, Dunloy and St James Swifts

All winning through to the 3rd Round but 8unortunately Cookstown RBL and Desertmartin lost their games.


In the Ballymoney United v Glebe Rangers game the Glebe player Conor Allen suffered a double fracture of the leg. Everyone wishes Conor a speedy recovery back to full fitness  


In the County Antrim Junior Shield 3rd Round game Castle Star defeated Carniny Rangers by five clear goals.

Danny McKinless got Coagh off to a great start in the game scoring a hat-trick on the 5th, 10th and 15th minutes. James Ferguson made it four nil on the 26th minute followed by JamieTomelty converting a penalty on the 32nd minute. The second half saw the Corner more in the game but two goals scored by William Ferguson and Andrew Neil on the 72nd and 77th minutes completed the scoring on the day.

                                BALLYNURE OB                0              BANGOR FC       4

Bangor got off to a good star with Ethan Boylan heading them into the lead on the 14th minute. Ballynure then had a man sent off for a second yellow card on the 33rd minute, then saw Andy Long increase the Bangor score with a well placed header on the 43rd minute. Jack Wasson made it three nil with a well placed shot on the 53rd minute before Andy long scored his second goal in the game to wrap up the scoring on the 67th minute.

                                                IFA INTERMEDIATE CUP 2nd ROUND

This game was played under lights on Friday Night and was a very closely contested game with a goal scored by Luke Mitchell on the 80th minute winning the game for Glebe. The only black mark in the game was the Glebe player suffering from a suspected broken leg.

Newtowne made the long trip from the North West to the County Down and thanks to a goal scored by Paul McIvor they progressed into the next round.

Cookstown minus a few regulars were more or less out of the tie when they trailed three nil at the break then conceded another goal in the second half.

Sofia went in front after Roberson Ribeiro scored then Hanover equalised prior to half-time. Hanover went in front early in the second half then two goals to complete his hat-trick from Roberson Ribeiro saw Sofia back in front. Sofia increased their advantage after Tiago De Jesus scored and this scoreline remain until Hanover converted a penalty on the 90th minute.

Brantwood went in front after Ricky McAuley scored on the 14th minute this being followed by a second goal scored by Curtis Dempster on the 20th minute. Brantwood still led by two goals at the break then scored two goals in the second half by Ricky McAuley on the 51st Minute and Jay Boyd on the 87th minute.

Dunloy had a battle on their hands in this game as the visitors were a well organised outfit. Dunloy went in front after Karl Fitzpatrick scored on the 21st minute only see Newcastle score the equaliser a minute later. Half-time was approaching when John John McFerran put Dunloy ahead on the 41st minute. Both teams had a chance or two in the second half but the goals prior to half-time was the last goal in the game

This was a good win for tee Swifts who led at half-time thanks to a goal scored by Gary Dorian. The Swifts controlled the second half and goals scored by Sean Donnelly, Marty McDonald and Eugene Gallagher saw them safely through to the next round.

The East had too much experience than Desertmartin and ran out comfortable winners at the end.


                                                JUNIOR DIVISIONS LEAGUE GAMES


                                WOODLANDS                    5              FC WHITEABBEY              2

Woodlands who got back into winning ways in this game went in front after Stuart McCullough scored then Conor Mullan equalised for Whiteabbey. Half-time was almost reached when Ross Oliver put Woodlands back in front. Woodlands then went 4-1 in front with goals scored by Alex Haggan (2) and Johnny Parkes before Conor Mullen scored a second goal for Whiteabbey before full time.        Referee Mr. Ian Getty

In this local derby played at Mossley it was the 3rd OB who gained the Sunday morning bragging rights after a clear win over their near neighbours. The 3rd Ballyclare goals were scored by Marc Campbell (2) and Dylan Lemahieu (2) and Jonny McCrea scoring for Ballynure.                Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

There was very little to choose between the teams in the first-half except a goal scored by Sammy Morgan on the 37th minute that saw Brantwood in front at half-time. Brantwood increased their lead after Aaron Finn scored on the 70th minute followed by Sammy Cummings scoring for the Rovers on the 76th minute. After this the Rovers went all-out for the equaliser but Brantwood held out for the win.                Referee Mr. Paul Aston


                COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC               3              SPORT & LEISURE SWIFTS RES 0

After a good start to the game Conor O’Hare scored putting the Olympic in front on the 20th minute. The Olympic then got a second goal scored by Barry Mulligan on the 30th minute. The Olympic defended their two goal cushion in the second half adding a third goal when Ryan O’Neil scored on 71st minute.

Clough continued with their unbeaten league run with this win which got off to a good start after Gary Hamilton scored on the 9th minute. Half-time saw the single goal separate the teams then Gary Hamilton scored his second goal in the game converting a penalty on the 67th minute. Maurice McDowell made it three nil for Clough on the 70th minute before Marc Higginson pulled goal back for the 68th on the 72nd minute. The only black mark in the game was both teams had a man sent off on the 65th minute.                         Referee Mr. Richard Stewart


                KILLYMOON RANGERS                6              BRANTWOOD-LOUGHSIDE          1

Killymoon kept in close touch with Clough Rangers with this win which saw them lead by three goals scored by Ricky Donaghy (2) and Chris McNicholl at half-time. Chris McNicholl made if four nil before Colin Watters pulled a goal back for Brantwood. Killymoon went on to score two more goals through Warren Smith and Robert Allen before the end of the game. In an otherwise event free game both teams had a player sent off on the 48th minute.                     Referee Mr. Matthew Shaw

Red Star went in front after Curtis Bell scored on the 14th minute then Sam Swann equalised for the 68th on the 22nd minute. Michael Rankin put Red Star back in front on the 25th minute then two goals from Michael Rankin on the 42nd minute and Andrew McDonagh on the 44th minute saw Red Star three goals clear at the break. The 68th came back with William Jordan scoring on the 55th minute followed by Dean Barrow on the 56th minute cutting the deficit to a single goal. Time was then running down when Sam Swan converted a penalty for the 68th on the 85th minute giving the teams a point each.                           Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins

North End went in front on the 8th minute after Roy Meekin scored then saw Marcin Klanczanski equalise for the Athletic on the 26th minute. Half-time saw the teams still level then Robert Bonnes put North End back in front on the 49th minute but goals scored by Ryan Clawson and Marcin Klanczanski on the 64th and 67th minutes put the Athletic in front. Andrew McCarley put the Athletic further in front on the 74th minute and the final goal was scored by Ryan Clawson on the 90th minute.              Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger

After a good opening first-half by both team’s Greenisland led by a goal scored by Ryan Coates at the break. Greenisland added two more goals trough Curtis McCullough and Johnny McMurtry to go three in front before Ruairi Mellon pulled a goal back for Carnlough.                Referee Mr. Brian Leitch

                NEWINGTON YC RES                      2              COOKSTOWN YOUTH COLTS     3Newtington took the lead after Daniel Moore converted a penalty on the 25th minute the saw George Dardis convert a penalty for the Colts on the 33rd minute to level the scores. Half-time saw the teams still level then on the 51st minute James Leslie put the Colts in front. Time was then running down when Kieffer Scott scored a third goal for the Colts on the 80th minute this being followed by the final goal in the game being scored by Mikolaj Danielowski for Newington on the 90th minute.           Referee Mr. Tommy Waide


                DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS              6              WHITEHEAD RANGERS  4 (after extra time)

Desertmartin went in front after Ryan Brown scored on the 14th minute then Noel Williams equalised for Whitehead on the 18th minute. Desertmartin went in front for a second time after Solomon Lubwama scored on the 28th minute and this score remained at half-time. Whitehead equalised again after Noel O’Connor scored on the 52nd minute then went in front after David Thompson scored on the 53rd minute. Nathan Redfern equalised for Desertmartin on the 58thminute and with no more goals scored the game went into extra-time. Solomon Lubwama scored on the 93rd minute putting Desertmartin back in front only to see Noel Williams equalise for Whitehead on the 94th minute. Desertmartin went in front again after Michael Stewart scored on the 114th minute and sealed the win after Sam Murray scored on the 118thminute.         Referee Mr. Russell Wilson



                                CASTLE STAR                   7              CARNINY RANGERS        2

Goals scored by Andy Hall and Paul Garvey saw the Castle go two goals in front then the Rangers came back to equalise. Half-time was approaching when Warren Brown scored putting the Castle back in front at half-time. The second half certainly belonged to the Castle with the following scoring Steven Garvey, Joel McMurtry, Andy Hall, and Stuart McKee without reply from the Rangers.
