Greenisland War Memorial and North Belfast United made their debuts on Saturday in Junior Division Three sharing the points in a two all draw. Saturday next will see all the teams in league action across all four Divisions.

Saturday past was a very good day for teams in the County Antrim Steel & Sons Competition. Four of the five teams won namely, Ballynure OB, Glebe Rangers, St James Swifts and Bangor but unfortunately Brantwood lost out away to Wellington Rec

                                NEWTOWNE                       4              CHIMNEY CORNER          1

Newtowne started off well taking the lead after Paul McIvor scored on the 24th minute. The Corner got back level after Francis Harbinson converted a penalty on the 26th minute and this scoreline remained at half-time. Paul McIvor restored the Newtowne advantage on the 53rd minute then goals from Jack McGonigle and Blain Morrison on the 71st and 84th minutes secured the win for Newtowne.        Referee Mr. Niall Gallagher

                                BALLYNURE OB                1              BRANTWOOD   3

Brantwood went in front after Ricky McAuley scored on the 21st minute and held this advantage at the break. Brantwood went two goals clear after Curtis Dempster scored on the 65th minute then Josh McIlroy pulled a goal back or Ballynure on the 75th minute. Ballynure tried hard for the equaliser after this but Brantwood sealed the win after Jason Kernoghan scored on the 91st minute.            Referee Mr. Peter Murray

 

                                BANGOR FC                       1              St JAMES SWIFTS            2

This was a corker of a game with the Swifts getting the winner in the second half. Michael Mclean put Bangor ahead before Padraig McCormack equalised for the Swifts before half-time. The second half saw plenty of chances with Eugene Gallagher scoring the all in important winner for the Swifts.   Referee. Mr. Rowan Vernon

 

                                COOKSTOWN RBL          2              SOFIA FARMER 1

Sofia started off on attack and went in front after Raul F Garcia scored on the 10th minute. After this Sofia had a few chances to score then on the 45th minute they had a man sent off.  RBL got back level after David Lee scored on the 50th minute went on to get the winner when Steven Purvis scored on the 85th minute.

Both teams created numerous chances in the first-half but no goals were scored at half-time. The second half followed a similar pattern of play then on the 88th minute Chris Nicholl headed the ball into the top corner of the Dunloy net for the winning goal.   Referee Mr. Darren Hylands

                                St JAMES SWIFTS            5              LISBURN RANGERS         2

After their mid-week league win away to Bangor the Swifts were buoyed up for this game. Eugene Gallagher put them in front on the 5th minute then Padraing McCormack added a second on the 15th minute. An own goal conceded on the 25th minute saw the Rangers back in the game but a second goal from Padraig McCormack on the 40th minute saw the Swifts two goals clear at half-time. The Rangers got a second goal on the hour then two goals scored by Eugene Gallagher and Oran McManus on the 70th and 80th minutes saw the Swifts safely into the next round.

Both teams had chances to score before Michael Haskins scored for Ballynure on the 35th minute. Suffolk came back to equalise on the 40th minute and after this Ballynure had a man sent off. Both teams kept it tight in the second half then superbly struck free kick by Michael Haskins on the 77th minute sealed the win for Ballynure.

 

                PORTAFERRY ROVERS  0              GLEBE RANGERS              3

The good form of Glebe this season continued in this game in which Chris Nicholl put them in front on the 10th minute. Jake Francis added goal number two on the 42nd minute then with time running out Rhys Blair scored goal number three on the 85th minute.

Wellington got off to a good start taking the lead with ten minute played then doubled their advantage on the 38th minute. Brantwood had a few chances to get back into the game but unfortunately missed out.

 

                                BANGOR FC                       9              KILMORE REC   0

After losing out to Glebe Rangers in the Irish Cup the previous Saturday Bangor went all-out from the start of in this game and at half-time led by six goals scored by, Jack Wasson, Dale Patton, Ethan Boylan, Chris Getty, Dylan Beattie and a second goal for Dale Patton. The second half saw Bangor score three more goals through Kyle Woods, Andy Long and Jordan Lucas

After a bright start by both teams Corey Carson put Greenisland ahead but then saw Ross Reid score the equaliser for the home side. Half-time came with the teams still level though the United were down to ten men after having a man sent off. The United went in front for a second time after John Fox scored but back came Greenisland to equalise through Jack Hastings to secure a point from the game.                Referee.
