Glebe Rangers lost their Semi-final of the Steel and Sons Cup by two late goals against Dundela on Friday Night. Coagh United Semi-final in the Bob Radcliffe Cup and Desertmartin Semi-final of the Craig Memorial Cup both fell victims to the wintry weather and were called off.

Desertmartin game is re-scheduled for Saturday 3rd December.

In the IFA Intermediate Cup there were ins for Newington YC Res and Cookstown Youth while Woodlands and 3rd Ballyclare OB made their exit from teh competition.

On the domestic front Ballynure OB ‘B’ and Antrim Rovers Swifts lost their unbeaten runs on Saturday, Ballynure at Clough and Antrim at Brantwood-Loughside

Once again another player was taken to Hospital on Saturday. The Dunloy Player Kevin Duffy receiving leg injury which saw him detained in the Royal Hospital with two broken bones in his ankle.

Everyone wishes Kevin a quick return to full fitness

Glebe though beaten can hold their heads high as they came up against a team with a lot more experience players than their young players. On possession Dundela edged the first forty five minute but no goals had been scored at half-time. This scoreline remained until Dundela were awarded very contentious free kick on the 86th minute. From the free kick Matty Burrows headed the ball into the top corner of the Glebe net. After this Glebe pushed everyone forward then with the game in the 92nd minute with all the Glebe players in the Dundela penalty area for a corner kick Dundela put in along clearance which was latched on to by Matty Burrows who had the simple task of making ground before hitting the ball into the unguarded net.

The Corner gave Ballynure an early shock in this game with Rene Matiko scoring on the 2nd minute. Ballynure came back at the Corner with Robert Watson scoring the equaliser on the 13th minute. Half-time was then beckoning when Chris Djalo scored putting the Corner back in front on the 43rd minute. Immediately after this Robert Watson scored his second goal on the 45th minute to level the scores for a second time. Ballynure then went clear after Robert Watson completed his hat-trick on the 47th minute and then converted a penalty on the 57thminute bringing his tally to four goals in the game. The Corner came back at Ballynure with Chris Djalo scoring his second goal on the 81st minute. After this the Corner went all out for the equaliser but Ballynure held out to collect all three points.             Referee Mr. Mark O’Neil

                                MAGHERAFELT SKY BLUES         1              NEWTOWNE       4

This was a good win for Newtowne against the Sky Blues who have been enjoying a good run of results of late. Newtowne went in front after Jack Heaney scored on the 16th minute then doubled their lead when Paul McIvor scored on the 28th minute. The Sky Blues then had a man sent off on the 35th minute and pulled a goal back after Anthony O’Neil scored on the 43rd minute. Newtowne went three goals clear after Rory O’Reilly converted a penalty on the 53rd minute and then scored a second goal on the 59th minute. This sealed the win for Newtowne as the Sky Blues had a second player sent off on the 70th minute with the dismissals costing them dear.

Games between the teams are mostly close run affairs and Saturdays was true to form. Dunloy went in front on the 17th minute through a goal scored by Karl Fitzpatrick then Mark Tweedie scored the equaliser for Brantwood on the 20th minute. After this goal Dunloy went down to ten men with the Kevin Duffy injury and they had no substitutes but went in front for a second time after Declan McGarry scored on the 44th minute. Brantwood were awarded a penalty on the 70th minute but the Dunloy keeper Sean Doherty made a superb save then with teh game in stoppage time Wayne Porter stabbed home the equaliser for Brantwood.

                                COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC               1              WAKEHURST     6             

Wakehurst went in front on the 6th minute after a long throw in came off an Olympic player and ended up in the net. Wakehurst doubled their lead on the 20th minute after Zac Barr scored and this score remained at half-time. The Olympic pulled a goal back with Chris Eastwood scoring on the 65th minute but then saw Zac Barr score his second goal in the game on the 69th minute. After this Zac Barr completed his hat-trick on the 75th minute followed by two goals scored by Dave Johnston and Stuart Nixon on the 80th and 85th minutes.

This was a very close game with the result being decided by the odd goal in three.  Brantwood went in front after Steven Hylands scored on the 39th minute and held this lead until Thomas Bownes scored the equaliser on the 64th minute. After this both teams went for the winner which went to Brantwood after Lee Rossi scored on the 76th minute.         Referee Mr. Brian Leitch

Rathcoole started off by attacking and went in front after Darren Cosby scored on the 4th minute then doubled their advantage after Steven Coppen scored on the 12th minute. Half-time came and the two early goals still separated the teams until Steven Coppen scored a second goal on the 50th minute. Time was then beginning to run down when Colin McAleese scored for Whiteabbey on the 84th minute followed by Reece Murray scoring the final goal in the game for Rathcoole on the 87th minute.             Referee Mr. Rodney Campbell

The castle went in front after Frazer Stretton scored on the 10th minute followed by a brace of goals scored by Lloyd Watters on the 15th and 40th minutes. RBL pulled a goal back after Stuart Donaghy scored on the 50th minute before Lloyd Watters scored to complete his hat-trick on the 65th minute. Time was then running down when Lee Lowry scored the final goal in the game on the 80th minute.       Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins.

Ballynure met with their first league defeat of the season in this game which they started off as favourites to win. Clough got off to a prefect start with Jordan Leighton scoring on the 5th minute and at half-time this goal still separated the teams. Ballynure tried hard to get the elusive equaliser in the second half but Clough held firm and secured the win after Bryan Logan scored their second goal on the 85th minute.

This game was called to a halt by the referee after he awarded Carrickfergus a penalty on the 22nd minute. This led to an altercation with the referee and Shore Road personnel.

This outcome will be decided on by the County Antrim Disciplinary Committee and the League Committee.

This was the first league defeat this season suffered by the Swifts but full marks to Brantwood who took their chances and won. The first goal in the game was scored by Stewart Moore on the 37th minute followed by a second goal scored by Steven Leckey on the 44th minute. This gave Brantwood a two goal lead at half-time which they defended until the final whistle.            Referee Mr. Russell Wilson

Stuart Thompson put the Rangers in front on the 4th minute but they were then held at bay by the 68th until Stuart Thompson scored his second goal on the 67th minute. John Pawson made it three nil on the 79th minute followed by two goals scored by Noel Williams 85th and Matthew Pitman 89th minutes.

Mountainview struck the fist blow with Aston Neil scoring on the 5th minute then Edie Bell converted a penalty for the Old Boys on the 15th minute. Mountainview went in front for a second time after Aston Neil scored his second goal on the 30th minute this goal separating the teams at half-time. Both teams had chances to score in the second half but none were scored until Marcus Gilmore scored number three for Mountainview on the 88th minute. The Old Boys responded with Dave Blair scoring their second goal on the 89th minute.

                                WAKEHURST STROLLERS           2              REMO FC             5 (After Penalties)

It took a penalty shoot-out to decide the result of this game after the teams were locked together a one each after extra-time. Wakehurst went in front after George Fleck scored on the 9th minute and held this lead until conceding an own goal on the 65th minute. No more goals were scored resulting in the penalty shoot-out. Keeper Conor McAllister proved to be the saviour for Remo saving the first two Wakehurst penalties and with Remo scoring their first four to one from Wakehurst it was Remo who progressed to the next round.

This was an emphatic win for Cookstown whose goals were scored by Mark Megarry (4), Mark Larmour (3), John Scott, Steven McIlhatton and Ryan O’Neil

Newington got off to a great start with Daniel Kelly scoring on the 2nd minute then going two goals in front after Michael McArdle scored on the 5th minute. Things settled down after this until Daniel Moore scored goal number three for Newington on the 47th minute. Kesh showed they were far from finished pulling a goal back on the 69th minute and the getting a second as time was running out. After this Newington put up the shutters and hold out for the win.

Woodlands had a terrible start to the game conceding goal after 25 seconds and three more goals before half-time. Woodlands never got going in the second half on a slick 3g pitch conceding a further three goals.

The welders led by a goal scored on the 25th minute at half-time then scored three more goals before Dylan Rea pulled a goal back for Ballyclare on the 74th minute.
