NEWTOWNE FC                                1              WAKEHURST FC               2

Results of games are decided on how you make best use of the chances that come your way and on this front Wakehurst showed Newtowne how to do it. The first chance in the game went to Newtowne when awarded a penalty on the 23rd minute but Keeper Findlay made a superb save to deny Newtowne the lead. Half-time was then reached with no goals being scored. Wakehurst then went in front when Ryan Sands scored with a well taken goal on the 62nd minute. After this Wakehurst went down to ten men after a players was sent off on the 65th minute. Newtowne drew level after Rory O’Reilly scored on the 72nd minute then with time running our fast they had a glorious chance to go in front but failed to take it. The game then went into stoppage time and in a crowded goalmouth Matthew Logan scored the all important third goal to give Wakehurst all three points and leave Newtowne to rue their missed chances.           Referee   Mr. Brian Gallagher

                                DESERTMARTIN                               0              SOFIA FARMER 1

The game opened up with Sofia playing the ball around the pitch causing the home defence a few problems at the back. Sofia took the lead on the 14th minute when after a good move Leonel Mendes scored with a well placed shot. Desertmartin then had a good chance to score from a well placed free kick but the ball skimmed over the cross-bar. Half-time saw Sofia still in front the each team had a man sent off in the second half, the Sofia player a 2nd yellow cards for wasting time and the Desertmartin player for a second foul. At end it was the single goal that decided the game though there were plenty of chances created by both teams.

Referee Mr. Stephen Anderson

MAGHERAFELT SKY BLUES                         4              CHIMNEY CORNER          3

In this seven goal thriller the Sky Blues went in front after Tommy Beattie converted a penalty on the 15th minute and followed this with his second goal on the 24th minute. The Sky Blues then went three ahead after Declan Martin scored on the 29th minute then made it four nil when Stanislav Pulko scored on the 41st minute. The Corner though four down never gave up getting a goal back on the 44th minute scored by Rene Matiko who followed this with his second goal on the 56th minute. The Corner threw caution to the wind in the second half but time was almost up when Sean McCann scored their third goal.                         Referee Mr. Paul Doherty

COUNTY ANTRIM STEEL & SONS CUP 2nd ROUND

DUNMURRY REC                               0              GLEBE RANGERS              3

This was a very good win for Glebe who controlled the game from the kick off then taking the lead after Alan Sheppard scored. Glebe continued to attack getting a second goal scored by Ian Christie giving them a two goal cushion at half-time. Glebe continued to attack in the second half sealing the win after Josh Elliott scored their third goal earning them a home tie against East Belfast in the 3rd Round

DERRIAGHY CC                 1              BALLYNURE OLD BOYS                3

This was a cracking game between two fairly evenly matched teams but it was Ballynure who carried the better cutting edge. This was seen to good effect on the 35th minute when Robert Watson scored to put Ballynure in front at half-time. Ballynure doubled their advantage on the 50th minute again Robert Watson on the mark scoring his second goal. The home side tried hard to get back into the game then with time running down Dan Ellis scored goal number three for Ballynure on the 80th minute to seal the win though Derriaghy converted a penalty on the 90th minute. Ballynure now have a home draw against 1st Bangor OB in the 3rd Round.

                                DUNLOY                                               2              MALACHIANS                    4

Dunloy started off well in this game taking the lead after John John McFerran scored on the 25th minute then doubled their lead after Con Og Boyle scored on the 45th minute. Stoppage time was being played at the end of the 1st half when Malachians pulled goal back on the 52nd minute. With the success of the goal before half-time Malcahians got a new lease of life in the second half scoring three goals on the 55th, 66th and 74th minutes to win a game that Dunloy had every chance of winning after being two goals ahead.

COAGH UNITED                 2              VALLEY RANGERS           1

This was a very good win for Coagh as Valley Rangers accounted for Newtowne a week earlier in the 1st Round of the Irish Cup. Coagh got off to a great start with Robert Allen scoring on the 6th minute and this goal separated the team until Graham scored for the Rangers on the 35th minute. The second half saw little to choose between the teams then on the 69th minute Ricky Donaghy scored the all important third goal in the game which takes Coagh into the next round of the competition where they will meet either Oxford-Sunnyside or Dromore Amateurs
