Glebe Rangers made the headlines this week by defeating Shankill United by the odd goal in three to reach the Semi-Final of the prestigious County Antrim Steel and Sons Cup where they will meet Dundela. Yes this had been a good Season as Coagh United are in the Semi-final of the Mid-Ulster Bob Radcliffe Cup and Desertmartin are in the Semi-Final of the North West Craig Memorial Cup.

Would be nice to see all three teams reach the Final in each Competition

Shankill had high hope before this game of going all the way to the final but got a bit of a surprise on Saturday. The first-half was certainly hotly contested at half-time the visitors led by a single goal. Glebe stuck to their task in the second half getting back level on the hour after Danny Brown ran through to score much to the delight of the home fans. On the down side for Shankill one of their players spoke out of turn to the Referee and received a straight Red Card. After this Glebe went for the winning goal but extra time was on the horizon when Ian Christie banged the ball into teh Shankill net on the 85th minute taking Glebe to the Promised Land.

Ballynure went in front after Robert Watson scored on the 11th minute then on the 15th minute Newtowne were down to ten men after a player received a straight red card. Robert Watson scored his second goal on the 19th minute followed by goals scored by Daniel Ellis 22nd and Michael Duff 40th minutes. Half-time was beckoning when Robert Watson brought his tally to four in the game scoring on the 38th and 44th minutes giving Ballynure a six goal cushion at half-time. To their credit Newtowne never gave up pulling a goal back after Declan Logue scored on the 68th minute but Ballynure had the final say when Daniel Ellis scored his second goal on the 90th minute.  Referee Mr. Samuel Forsythe

Brantwood took an early lead after Curtis Dempster scored on the 4th minute then doubled the lead with his second goal scored on the 13th minute. Brantwood went three goals clear through an own goal then Robin Patton pulled goal back for Desertmartin on the 28th minute. Half-time was then approaching when Robin Patton scored his second goal on the 39th minute. Curtis Dempster completed his hat-trick on the 49th minute and this score remained until Mark Tweedie scored on the 89th minute and Curtis Dempster on the 90th minute.

                                MAGHERAFELT SKY BLUES         2              WAKEHURST FC               2

This as a very tight game with Wakehurst edging the first-half and the Sky Blues the second half. Wakehurst got off to a flying start when Stuart Nixon set Zac Barr to score on the 5th minute. After this Wakehurst had the best of the chances but had to wait until the 59th minute for their second goal scored by Stuart Nixon. The Sky Blues hit a bit of form after this getting back after Tommy Beattie scored on the 75th minute then the equaliser scored by Darren O’Neil on the 82nd minute.     Referee Mr. Mark O’Neil

Sofia started off by taking the game to the Youth and went in front after Nuno Colaco scored on the 22nd minute. Sofia then doubled their lead on the 36th minute through a goal scored by Fabio Gaiao. Half-time saw the Youth re-organise coming out on attack in the second half getting back into the game after Jonny O’Neil scored on the 56th minute. The Youth got back on level terms after Drew Kelly scored on the 68th minute then on the 75th minute Nuno Colaco scored a goal worthy of winning any game for Sofia on the 75th minute sealing the win.

Dunloy took the lead after Anthony McQuillan scored on the 10th minute and held this until Jonny Young scored the equaliser on the 30th minute. Half-time was almost up when Coagh scored an own goal putting Dunloy back in front then on the 55th minute Stuart Glasgow scored  putting the teams back level. Both teams went for goals after this but none came until Johh John McFerran scored for Dunloy on the 75th minute followed by Karl Fitzpatrick scoring to seal the win on the 85th minute.        Referee Mr. Shane McGonigle

The Corner went in front on the 8th minute after Stephen Hamill scored but Newington his back with Mark Kelly scoring on the 14th minute. Play then settled down until Mark Kelly scored his second goal on the 35th minute followed by Darren Burgoyne equalising for the Corner on the 38th minute. The teams were still level at the break and as the second half progressed it appeared to be heading for extra-time until Daniel Moore struck with the winner for Newington on the 83rd minute.               Referee Mr. Paul Aston

RBL are setting the pace at the top of the league table but were made to fight for the win by a resolute Brantwood team who held them to a scoreless first-half. Things changed at the start of the second half after Benny Gray scored on the 48th minute.  Brantwood had to chase the game after this then on the 61st minute Gareth Ramsey scored the all important second goal for RBL who went on to defend their advantage and collect full points at the end.      Referee Mr. Tommy Waide

                                COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC               4              DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS              2

The Olympic went in front after Chris Eastwood scored on the 14th minute then doubled their advantage after Jon Gilmore converted a penalty on the 33rd minute. Michael Meenan made it three nil for the Olympic on the 59th minute before Stuart McElhatton pulled a goal back for Desertmartin on the 71st minute. Time was then beginning to run down when Michael Meenan scored his second goal on the 81st minute then on the 88th minute the Olympic conceded an own goal to complete the scoring.,            Referee Mr. Russell Kennedy

Woodlands good league form continued with this win though they had to come from behind to a goal scored by Darrach Mallon on the 14th minute that had put Mallusk in front. Woodlands equalised through Ross Oliver and went on to score four more goals through Alex Haggan, Ross Oliver, Thomas Ogilvie and Matthew McIlfatrick.

The Rovers took an early lead after Darren Adair scored on the 5th minute but then saw Paul Ryan equalise for the Sports on the 7th minute. After this early flurry of goals no more were scored until Martin Cunningham scored for the Sports on the 40th minute. Paul Ryan scored his second goal on the 54th minute extending the Sports lead with the win being sealed after Paul McKissock scored on the 87th minute.

This was a very evenly contested game for the entire ninety minutes. Chance came and went for both team but at half-time no goals had been scored. A similar pattern of play continued in the second half until Matthew Davies scored putting Mountainview in front on the 65th minute. Time was then running down when William Boyle equalised for Remo on the 83rd minute then on the 90th minute Dylan Lemahieu hit home the winner for Remo. Referee Mr. Charlie Pollock

Goals were the order of the day in this game with Aaron Knell putting the Old Boys in front early in the first-half. The Strollers hit back with John Alexander scoring then taking the lead after Charles Allen scored their second goal. The Old Boys got back level after Mark McLarnon scored before half-time. The Old Boys went in front again after Mark McLarnon scored his second goal but back came the Strollers to equalise after George Fleck scored giving the teams a point each at the end.                           Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins




                                ANTRIM ROVERS SWIFTS            2              68th OB ‘B’           1

The Swifts kept top spot of the league table with this win but they were certainly pushed all the way by an improving Old Boys team. The Swifts went in at half-time leading by a goal scored by Gary Wilkinson on the 32nd minute then saw the Old Boys equalise after Ryan Humphreys scored on the 50th minute. Both teams went for goals after this with the Swifts getting the all important third goal after Gary Wilkinson scored his second goal on the 70th minute.   Referee Mr. Rodney Campbell

A last minute goal was the deciding factor in this game which was a bit hard on the Rangers. Danny Hastings put the Rangers in front after he scored on the 31st minute then Zac Nicholl equalised for Brantwood on the 58th minute. No more goals were scored until Michael Brown scored on the 80th minute putting the Rangers back in front. Sammy Dykes equalised for Brantwood on the 82nd minute then on the 90th minute Stephen Leckey hit home the winner for Brantwood.       Referee Mr. Lee Patterson

This was a corker of a game between two evenly matched teams and a share of the points being fair to both. Carnlough took the lead after Henry Morgan scored on the 18th minute and half-time led by this goal. 1st Carrick were back on level terms after Jordan Bell scored on the 49th minute and though both teams had chances in the second half no more goals were scored.                Referee Mr. Brian Leitch

What a game with ten goals being scored in normal time and four in extra-time. Ballynure led 3-2 at half-time and were level at five each at the end of ninety minutes. Castle scored three more in extra time to one by Ballynure. Goals were scored by the following players; Ballynure OB Jonny McCrea (2), Ryan Wallace (2), Ryan Stewart and Jonny Kane and Castle Star Lee Lowry (3), Lloyd Watters, Paul Garvey, Andy Hall, Warren Brown and an own goal.       Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

Rathcoole went in front after Nathan Stranaghan scored on the 1st minute then Clough came back with Richard Ross scoring the equaliser. Rathcoole went in front for a second time after Steven Coppen scored then added to this with a goal scored by David Graham before half-time. Clough narrowed the gap after Bryan Logan scored in the second half only see Steven Coppen score number four for Rathcoole. Clough came back again with David Houston scoring then two late goals scored by Aaron Lindsay and Darren Cosby took Rathcoole into the next round.     Referee Mr. Richard Stewart

This was a big win for Red Star who went in front after Stuart Mulligan scored on the 31st minute then doubled their lead after Noel O’Connor scored on the 42nd minute. Ballyclare came back to narrow the gap with David Gracey scoring on the 68th minute then Red Star failed to convert a penalty. Time was running down when John Davey hit home the equaliser for Ballyclare on the 81st minute. Red Star went in front again after Ricky McNally scored on the 86th minute then on the 90th minute Red Star Keeper John Hadden saved a penalty to take his team into the next round.             Referee Mr. Kenny Hayton

What a Cup tie with nine goals scored and many more chances go a begging. Ballyclare went into a three nil lead with goals scored by Craig Jenkins, Eddie Kocherian and Gareth Patton. Karl Woodside pulled a goal back for 18th before Craig Jenkins scored his second goal before half-time. Gareth Patton scored his second goal putting North End four goals clear then a magnificent fight back by 18th with goals scored by Karl Woodside, Jon Magill and Stewart Gourley cut the deficit to one before the final whistle.           Referee Mr. Adrian Dodds
