Saturday saw a few shocks in the results and none more so than Cookstown Olympic defeating Sofia Farmer by thee clear goals in the Crawford Cup 2nd Round. This win now gives the Olympic a home game against Glebe Rangers or Sport & Leisure Swifts Res in the next Round.


In the Intermediate Division St James Swifts met with their first league defeat away to Newtowne while Bangor had to settle for a draw at Dunloy.


In Junior Division One Woodlands had to depend on a late goal to take a point away at Sport & Leisure Swifts while Newington YC res had a four nil win over Desertmartin Swifts


In Junior Division Two Clough Rangers Athletic met with their first league defeat of the season losing by the odd goal in five against Cookstown Youth Colts


In the other local Cup games Coagh defeated Desertmartin in the McReynolds Cup by an extra-time goal at Dromore Park Killymoon Rangers win in extra-time at 68th Newtownabbey OB.

In the remaining cup tie Brantwood-Loughside had and extra-time win away at Red Star

This was a corker of a game with lots of good football, goals and near misses. Dunloy got off to great start with John John McFerran heading in from a corner on the 10th minute to the game. Bangor got back on level terms after Mark Magennis scored with a well placed shot into the bottom corner of the Dunloy net. Dunloy went in front for a second time after Declan McGarry scored on the 30th minute and this goal separated the teams at half-time. Bangor got back on level terms after a clearance came out to Dale Patton who scored from close range. After this both teams had a chance or two to score but at the end it was point to each team.

 After a steady start to the game by both teams Newtowne went in front after Conor Logue scored on the 23rd minute. After this chances came and went for both team but no more goals were scored before half-time. The second half saw chances come and go with no more goals until Blain Morrison scored Newtowne’s second goal on the 90th minute.                Referee Mr. Glenn McKinstry

The Youth were early on the attack and went in front after Mark Megarry scored this goal being followed by a second scored by Rene Matiko putting the Youth in strong position. RBL replied to this when scored before half-time. RBL got back on level terms after scored and this scoreline remained until the final whistle.

                                DESERTMARTIN               3              COAGH UNITED 4        (after extra time)

The game was in the 6th minute when Scott McGeown scored to put Coagh in front then an own goal conceded by Desertmartin on the 14th minute saw Coagh two goals in front. Desertmartin pulled a goal back after Sam Murray scored on the 18th minute then Mark Scott converted a penalty to put Desertmartin back level on the 20th minute. Coagh went in front again after William Ferguson scored on the 24th minute then Desertmartin got back level after Robin Patton scored on the 42nd minute. No more goals were scored in the game then on the 86th minute Coagh had a man sent off and had to thank Keeper William Hassan who saved the follow up penalty to take the game into extra-time. Coagh won the tie with a goal scored by Danny McKinless on the 105th minute.

                COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC               7              SOFIA FARMER 4

This result came as a bit of shock for Sofia who went behind after Barry Mulligan scored on the 11th minute. Sofia got back level after Raul Garcia scored on the 18th minute then a brace of goals scored by Roberson Ribeiro on the 25th and 40th minutes saw Sofia two goals ahead. The Olympic hit back with goals scored by Nigel Johnston on the 43rd and Ryan O’Neil on the 45th minutes which put the team level at half-time. Barry Mulligan put the Olympic ahead with his second goal on the 47th minute followed by Ryan O’Neil lobbing the Sofia keeper from 50 yards on the 63rd minute and Barry Mulligan completing his hat-trick when he lobbed the keeper on the 70th minute. Tiernan Brennan scored number seven for the Olympic on the 82nd minute before Tiago De Jesus converted penalty for Sofia on the 85th minute. Referee Mr. David Thorpe

Glebe got off to a great start against Annagh from the NIFL Premier Intermediate League when Chris Nicholl scored their opening goal on the 2nd minute. After this the game settled down and Glebe got their second goal after Ian Christie scored on the 40th minute giving them a two goal lead at the break. The visitors then had  a man sent off on the 60th minute before they scored on the 65th minute.  Glebe had to thank their Keeper who saved a penalty on the 80th minute then the Annagh keeper saved a penalty on the 85thminute to deny Glebe.

The Rovers took an early lead in this game after Tommy Bownes scored on the 6th   minute then added two more goals from the penalty spot converted by Jonny Rogers on the 19th and 20th minutes. Half-time saw the Rovers still three goals in front then Simon Gibson pulled a goal back for Ballynure on the 53rd minute. Both teams had a few chances after this to score but no more goals came.           Referee Mr. Russell, Wilson

This was a funny type of game with Ballyclare controlling the first-half and Brantwood the second. Ballyclare went in front after Sammy Duff scored on the 2nd minute then doubled their advantage when Seamus McCann scored on the 25th minute. Half-time came with Ballyclare still two goals in front. Brantwood got back into the game after Mark Tweedie scored on teh 49th minute followed by the equaliser scored by Ryan McClean on the 70th minute.   Referee Mr. Gary Crawford

Last seasons champions had the better of the attacking play throughout the game which was a personal triumph for Daniel Moore who scored all four goals for Newington.                Referee Mr. Paul Aston



Woodlands the current league leaders had to depend on a very late goal to take a point from this game. Sports went in front after Gerry Kelly scored and followed this with a goal scored by Ciaran McKissock to lead two nil at half-time. Woodlands git back into the game via a brace of goals scored by Stuart McCullough then went behind again after Ciaran McKissock scored his second goal in the game. Time was running down when Ross Oliver scored the equaliser for Woodlands.     Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins



                ANTRIM ROVERS SWIFTS            3              COOKSTOWN RBL RES 2

The Swifts took an early lead in this game after Nathan Coyle scored on the 9th minute then Jonny Ferguson equalised for RBL on the 20th minute. The Swifts went in front again after Jordan Barrow scored on the 41st minute to lead at half-time. RBL came back with an equaliser scored by Jonny Ferguson on the 59th minute setting the game up evenly poised. The Swifts went in front for a third time after Matthew Montgomery scored on the 72nd minute which proved to be the winning goal.        Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger

This result was a set-back to Clough aspirations of lifting the league title at the end of Season. The Colts went in front after Drew Kelly scored on the 2nd minute and held this lead until Drew Kelly scored his second goal on the 64th minute. Chris McDonald put Clough back into the game after he scored on the 77th minute then a penalty converted by Ricky Ross on the 85th minute saw the teams back on level terms. The game then went into stoppage time with Drew Kelley completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot on the 93rd minute to win the game for the Colts.         Referee Mr. Charlie Pollock


                NORTHEND UNITED YOUTH         2              MALLUSK ATHLETIC      5             

Mallusk went in at half-time leading by two goals scored by Matty Fegan then early in teh second half he completed his hat-trick. Mallusk then went five goals clear through goals scored by Karl Campbell and Paul Walker. Full marks must go to the Youth who never gave up getting two deserved goals scored by Ryan McNeil and Robert McCluney against a team with a lot more experience.  Referee Mr. Richard Stewart

No goals were scored during the first forty five minutes though both teams had a chance or two to score. Greenisland went in front after Jordan Hastings scored on the 51st minute followed by Michael Jamison converting a penalty on the 61st minute.  Greenisland then secured the points after Robert Watterson and James McCullough scored on the 64th and 67th minutes.          Referee Mr. Tommy Waide

This was a very closely contested game with a late goal deciding the winners of the three points. Carrick went in front after David White scored on the 20th minute then saw James Brown score the equaliser for the United on the 40th minute. The second half was nip and tuck until the 85th minute when Jak Carse scored the winning goal for Carrick.          Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

68th NEWTOWNABBEY OB ‘A’                     3              KILLYMOON RANGERS 4  (after extra time)

The 68th went in front after Ross McMahon scored then two goals for Killymoon saw them in the lead at half-time. Killymoon scored a third goal before goals scored by Mark Higginson and Sammy Swain for the 68th saw the tie go into extra-time. Killymoon then won the tie with the only goal scored in extra-time.

This game got off to an explosive start with two goals scored inside the first ten minutes. Red Star went in front after Curtis Bell scored on the 4th minute then saw Lloyd Watters equalise for Brantwood on the 10th minute. After this the game settled down to a mid-field battle with no more goals being scored in normal time. Extra-time was then played with Lloyd Watters and Zac Nicholl scoring for Brantwood on the 93rd and 110th minutes

The Castle got off to a good start to the game taking an early lead through a goal scored by Lee Lowry and this goal separating the teams until Castle concede a very unfortunate own goal on the 43rd minute. The own goal seemed to affect the Castle who then conceded two more goals to exit the competition.
