It was all systems go on Saturday with a mixed bag of results across all four divisions. Results to catch the eye on the day were Cookstown RBL holding Glebe Rangers to a 2-2 draw at Cookstown and St James Swifts scoring a very late goal to gain a 1-1 draw against Coagh United in Belfast both games in the Intermediate Division. In Junior Division Two Cookstown Youth Colts gained the bragging right in Cookstown after beating Killymoon Rangers 3-1. Another new team Northend United Youth whose average age was 19 years beat Antrim Rovers Swifts another young team by the odd goal in five in Division 3

Saturday next will see St James Swifts, Glebe Rangers, Bangor FC and Ballynure OB playing in the County Antrim Steel & Sons Cup 3rd Round while Cookstown RBL, Coagh United and Cookstown Youth play in the 1st Round of the Mid-Ulster Bob Radcliffe Cup. Completing the Cup games Newtowne FC and Desertmartin will be playing in the 1st round of the North West Craig Memorial Cup

Bangor got off to a good start taking the lead after Gerard McMullan scored on the 13th minute then doubled this lead after Ethan Boylan scored on the 35 minute. Half-time was almost reached when Ethan Boylan scored his second goal in the 42nd minute. Keith Armstrong scored a fourth for Bangor on the 51st minute then the Ballynure hopes faded further after having a man sent off.          Referee. Mr. Iaian Banks    


                                BRANTWOOD                   2              CHIMNEY CORNER          1

After a steady start by both team Brantwood hit two goals in quick succession with Gareth McAuley scoring on the 36th minute and Mary McAvoy scoring on the 38th minute. The Corner then got back into the game after Sean McCashin converted a penalty on the 44th minute. The second half saw the Corner go for the equaliser but Brantwood were not to be denied the win.  Referee Mr. Noel Crossan

What a game with the woodwork being rattled a few times but no goals scored at half-time. This changed in the second half when Scott McGeown scored for Coagh on the 73rd minute. After this St James went on all-out attack getting the equaliser on the 92nd minute scored by Mark McDonald. Referee Mr. Gerard Murray

RBL took an early lead in the game with David Lee scoring on the 1st minute and then doubled their advantage after James Dunn scored on the 25th minute giving them a two goal cushion at half-time. Glebe got back into the game pulling a goal back after Aaron Weir scored on the 62nd minute. The game was then going into stoppage time when Jake Francis converted a penalty to square the game.                                 DUNLOY FC                        2              COOKSTOWN YOUTH    1

A goal scored by Paddy Kelly on the 32nd minute saw Dunloy in front at half-time. Dunloy went two goals in front after Declan McGarry scored with a thunderous shot on the 64th minute. The Youth never gave up teyh chase pulling a goal back after Barry Kelly scored on the 80th minute giving Dunloy an anxious last ten minutes. Referee Mr. Darren Waite

Newtowne got off to a quick start with Paul McIvor scoring on the 4th minute then Sofia hit back with Francisco Gusmao            equalising on the 22nd minute. Half-time was almost reached when Mamadu So scored with a blistering shot on the 45thminute putting Sofia in front. Mamadu So scored his second goal in the game on the 48th minute putting Sofia two goals clear. Newtowne never gave up the chase but time was running down when Ian Crockett scored on the 89th minute.                               Referee Mr. Matthew Gilchrist

Its seldom both these teams never get on the score sheet but Saturday was one of those days. Chances came and went for both teams during the ninety minute with the best being a penalty awarded to Antrim on the 20th

This game was abandoned on the 42nd minute after the referee encountered a mass brawl between both sets of players. The County Antrim FA Disciplinary Committee will deal with the reason for the abandonment then the League will have to decide on the Outcome of the game.                Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins


                NEWINGTON  YC RES                     10           SPORT & LEISURE SWIFTS RES 1             

Last season’s league Champions continued where they left off last season with a convincing win with goals scored by Daniel Moore 2, David Finlay 2, Sean Moore 1, Declan Hackett 1, Niall Southam1, Jacek Lipka 1 and Two OG.                                 WOODLANDS                    5              BALLYNURE OB ‘B’         1

League runners-up last season Woodlands hope to go one better this season started off well taking the lead after Stewart McCullough scored on the 6th minute. Stewart McCullough scored his second goal on the 30th minute putting Woodlands two goals clear at half-time. Ballynure goat a goal back after Ryan Wallace scored on the 49th minute then goals scored by Simon Scott 55th minute, Stewart McCullough to complete his hat-trick on the 63rd minute and Ross Oliver 67th minute completed the scoring.          Referee Mr. Samuel Forsythe



                NORTHEND UNITED YOUTH         3              ANTRIM ROVERS SWIFTS            2

This was a corker of a game between two evenly matched teams and a good win for Northend making their debut in the league. After a good start by both teams Northend Under 17 Captain Robert McCluney scored to put his team in front on the 32nd minute then two goals scored by Ryan Worthington and Nathan Simmons on the 38th and 39th minute saw the Swifts go in front. Northend got back on level terms after Aaron Campbell converted a penalty on the 44th minute. Play was then evenly divided in the second half except for the winner which was headed in by Charles Allen on the 61st minute to win the game for Northend.

Luke Watters scored on the 16th minute putting Brantwood in front then followed this with his second goal on the36th minute. Luke Watters went on to complete his hat-trick on the 67th minute and this score remained until Steven Ramsey converted a penalty for RBL on the 80th minute.   Referee Mr. Rodney Campbell

Castle went in front after Lloyd Watters scored on the 20th minute then with half-time approaching Gary Hamilton scored the equaliser for Clough on the 40th minute. Castle went back in front after Nathan Poulter scored on the 56th minute but back came Clough with Ricky Ross scoring the equaliser on the 76th minute.

At the end of the game it was the colts who claimed the bragging right in this derby game. After a close start by both teams Ciaran Thompson scored on the 33rd minute putting Killymoon in front than Lee Glasgow scored the equaliser for the Colts on the 45thminute. Lee Glasgow scored his second goal in the game on the 54th minute putting the Colts ahead then a third goal scored by Kyle McMullan on the 67th minute sealed the win.                  Referee Mr. Bert Purdy


                68th NEWTOWNABBEY OB ‘A’     2              MALLUSK ATHLETIC      4

The 68th went in front in this game after Tom Ireland scored then goals scored by Karl Campbell and Peter Bracewell saw Mallusk in front at half-time. Paul Walker made it 3-1 for Mallusk before the David Blair pulled a goal back for the 68th in the second half. Paul Walker then scored his second goal in the game to seal the win for Mallusk. For the entire ninety minutes of this game it was a nip and tuck affair with both teams creating numerous chances to score. At the end of the game it was a goal scored by Daniel Fahy on the 39th minute then won the game for North End.         Referee Mr. Matthew Shaw

Rathcoole with a number of old faces back in their ranks were a bit too strong particularly in the second than their opponents who were making their debut in the league. Half –time was reached with no goals scored then three scored by Alex Crawford and one each by Aaron Lindsay and Ross Watters saw Rathcoole collect all three points.                             Referee Mr. Brian Leitch


                WHITEHEAD RANGERS                   2              RED STAR           5

In this game between the close neighbours Red Star went in front after Brian Cunningham scored on the 17th minute. Whitehead hit back with Stuart Lyttle scoring a brace of goals on the 35th and 44th minutes to go in front at the break. Red Star got back level after Richie McNally scored on the 47th minute followed by a Hat-trick from Aaron Richards who scored on the 63rd, 82nd and 94th minutes.  Referee Mr. Russell Wilson                  

                CARRICK ATHLETIC                       5              68th NEWTOWNABBEY OB ‘B’     2

The Athletic went in front after Adam Crockard scored then Glenn Cleland equalised for the 68th. Half-time was approaching when Stewart Bell scored to put the Athletic back in front. Two goals scored by Ryan Clawson and Jon Marshall saw the Athletic extend their led before Sammy Swain scored for the 68th. Time was then running down when Ryan Clawson sealed the win for the Athletic with his second goal.                 Referee Mr. Robert Swann
