With the weather good all scheduled games were played and the situation in the Intermediate and Juniors One and Two divisions is hotting up at the top of the tables. Some interesting games are conming up and with mid-week games planned to level up the number of games played the resuts are eagerly awaited on.

                     INTERMEDIATE 

LEAGUE

COOKSTOWN RBL 1 NEWTOWNE 2

Newtowne took an early lead after Conor Logue scored on the 9th minute but RBL hit back soon after with Johnny Taylor scoring the equaliser on the 11th minute. After this the teams tended to cancel each other out in mid-field and at half-time the the score was one each. Newtowne went in front for a second time on the 67th minute through a goal scored by Oisin Hasson. RBL Pushed forward after this but failed to get the equaliser before the final whistle. CHIMNEY CORNER 2 DESERTMARTIN 4

Desertmartin were on the sttack from the kick off and went in front after Cochrane scored on the 3rd minute. The Corner got back on level terms after Brian McAuley scored on the 15th minute. Desertmartin went in front for a second time after Mark Scott scored on the 26th minute but back came the Corner to equalise through a goal scored by Dave Core on the 39th minute. Desertmartin went in front for a third time after Smythn scored on the 52nd minute. The Corner then threw caution to the wind in an effort to get back level then got caught on 89th minute when McBride nipped through to score number four for Desertmartin.

              MID-WEEK LEAGUE GAMES

GLEBE RANGERS 1 NEWTOWNE 2

This was a corker of a game played last Tuesday Night  with Newtowne winning by the odd goal in three. Newtowne went in front after Ryan Twist scored on the 25th minute then saw Glebe cancel this out when Peter Kennoway headed in the equaliser on the 27th minute. Newtowne then went in front for a second time after Jamie Mills scored on the 36th minute and this goal separated the teams at the break. The asecond half saw both teams create chances but alas none were taken,. Referee Mr. Jimmy Johnston

GLEBE RANGERS 3 BRANTWOOD        1

This game played onm Friday nigth saw little to choose between the teams until two late goal for Glebe gave then three very Valuable Points in their quest to win the League Title. Both teams had a chance or two before Chad Dobbin scored on the 26th minute putting Glebe in front at half-time then Brantwood got back level after Mark Tweedie scored on the 73rd minute. Time was then running down quickly when two goals scored by Chris Nicholl and Josh Elliott on the 83rd and 85th minuttes won the points for Glebe.

CRAWFORD CUP ROUND 3

COOKSTOWN YOUTH 1 COAGH UNITED 4

Coagh were early on the goal trail with Jamie Ferguson scoring on the 3rd minute followed by Daniel McKinless on the 5th minute. Coagh went on to add two more goals to their tally with Mark Taylor scoring on the 31st minute and Matthew Kempton on the 42nd minute. The Youth had an uphill battle to try and save the game in the second half but it was very late in the game when George Dardis converted a penalty on the 82nd minute then Jamie Ferguson saw his penalty saved on the 88th minute.

BANGOR FC 3 DUNLOY 0

Bangor were on the attack early in the game taking the lead after Ben Roy scored on the 10th minute. Bangor then had the better of the attacking play in the first-half but failed to add to their goal  tally. The second half sawDunloy prominent on attack and but for a coupleof top class saves by the Bangor keeper they may have got back on level terms. Bangor then killed the game when Dale Patton broke through to score on the 78th minute followed by Ben Roy completing the scoring on the 90th minute.

O'GORMAN CUP ROUND 2

St JAMES SWIFTS 5 SOFIA FARMER 2

St James went in front after Terry McGrath scored early in the game then doubled their lead witha goal scored by Gary Dorrian. Sofia got back into the game after Rui Lanzinhas scored but then conceded an own goal before half-time. St James then went four goals clear after Sean Pat Donnelly and Martin McDonald scored though Sofia got a goal back scored by Rui Lanzinhas before the final whistle. Referee Mr. Rowan Vernon

JUNIOR DIVISIONS LEAGUE GAMES

ONE

BRANTWOOD RES 2 COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC 1

Brantwood went in front after Steven McCormick scored on the 2nd minute and this goal separated the teams until Ross Cowan scored a second goal for Brantwood on the 44th minute. The second half saw Brantwood defend their two goal lead and Cookstown going all-out for goals . Time was then almost up when Gary Maguire scored a deserved goal for Cookstown on the 87th minute.

DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS 2 NEWINGTON YC RES        4

A win was a must for Newington in this game for them to keep up with Woodlands at the top of the table. Newington went in front after Ryan Morrison scored on the 16th minute then Ryan Davidson scored number two on the 22nd minute. Half-time was then approaching when Fioontan McFarland made it three nil on the 38th minute. Desertmartin got back into the game when Ryan Brown scored on the 62nd minute followed by Matthew Mulholland scoring on the 65th minute. Desertmartin then went for the equalier but Newington held firm until the 88th minute when Desertmartin conceded an own goal. Referee Mr. Samuelo Fiorsythe

TWO

68th NEWTOWNABBEY 'A' 1 NORTHEND UNITED YOUTH 1

Though no goals were scored during the first forty five minutes both teams created a number of chances to score. The secons half was similar until the 75th minute when Ryan McNeil scored putting Northend in front. This goal separated the teams until the 92nd minute when Eddie Bell converted a penalty to give Newtownabbey a point. Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins

KILLYMIOON RANGERS 2 CLOUGH RANGERS ATHLETIC 2

Killymoon got off to a good start with William Smyth scoring on the 13th minute then scoring a second goal on the 28th minute. Half-time saw Killymoon still two goals in front then on the 48th minute Jordan Leighton scored for Clough to narrow the gap. Clough got back on level terms after Lee Stewart scored on the 53rd minute but though chances were created by both teams no more goals were scored. Raferee Mr. Matthew Shaw

MALLUSK ATHLETIC 1 CASTLE STAR 3

This was a bit of an odd game with no goals being scored dirung the first-half then four being scored in the second. Mallusk went in front after Jason Stirling scored on the 59th minute then  Paul Matthews equalised for Castle on the 65th minute. Castle went in front after Dylan Ritchie scored on the 68th minute and sealed the win after Frazer Stretton scored on the 81st minute.

COOKSTOWN RBL RES 2 COOKSTOWN YOUTH COLTS        6

The bragging rights after this game went to the Colts who went behind after Gareth Ramsey put RBL in front on the 10th minute. Half-time was then approaching when Conor Raffery equalised for the Colts on the 38th minute. The Collts then hit a purple patch early in the second half with Jordan Glasgow scoring on the 46th minute followed by Kyle McMullan 50th and Steve Arrell on the 54th minutes. Steve Arrell scored his second goal in the game on the 70th minute beore Gareth Ransey scored his second for RBL on the 75th minute. Time was then running down when Conleth Mallon completed the scoring on the 81st minute.
