It was good to see so many matches played on Saturday after the Christmas/New Year break. What looked like a black out earlier in the week saw the weather on Thursday Night and Friday improve with only Four games being lost in all competitions






                                COAGH UNITED               2              DUNLOY               2

Dunloy took the lead after Karl Fitzpatrick scored on the 16th minute and at half-time this goal still separated the teams. Dunloy doubled their advantage after Zac McGall scored on the 46th minute and the saw Jamie Tomelty pull a goal back for Coagh on the 59th minute. Coagh kept pushing for the equaliser which came after Danny McKinless scored the final goal in the game on the 79th minute.        Referee Mr. Oisin Mahon

Ballynure went in front after Kyle Agnew scored early in the game then doubled their lead after Scott Cummings scored. Kyle Agnew scor4ed goal number three for Ballynure before Scott Cumming s added a fourth before half-time. Sofia came back strong in the second half scoring three goals but  unfortunately failed to get the elusive equaliser.                                Referee Mr. Ciaran McAllister

Chances came and went for both teams in this Cup Tie but at the end of Ninety minutes no goals had been scored. This changed after Gerard Logue scored putting Newtowne in front on the 95th minute. RBL came back to equalise through Jonny Taylor on the 106th minute taking the game to penalties. Both teams converted their first five penalties then it was down to sudden death in which Dean McInnes save the RBL sixth penalty to take Newtown through who had scored their Sixth.                          Referee Mr. Paul Caldwell


                                DESERTMARTIN               4              COOKSTOWN YOUTH          3

Desertmartin went in front after Sam Murray scored on the 9th minute then followed up with his second goal on the 13th minute. The Youth got back into the game after Rene Matiko scored on the 30th minute then went two behind again after Neil Smyth scored for Desertmartin on the 34th minute. With half-time rapidly approaching the Youth got back level after Rene Matiko scored on the 42nd and 44th minutes to complete his hat-trick. The second half saw both teams play it tight and wait on a chance with the winning goal going to Desertmartin after Philip Caulfield scoring on the 83rd minute

                                LINFIELD                             5              GLEBE RANGERS              0

Though beaten glebe gave a good account of themselves when one takes in to account their opposition who had a number of new signings on view for the first time. Linfield went in front after Kirk Millar scored with a well struck shot on the 30th minute and this goal separated the teams at half-time. Mark Haughey doubled the Linfield lead on the 49th minute followed by a third goal scored by Josh Robinson. Matthew Clarke made it four nil on the hour then in the dying minutes Kirk Millar scored his second goal in the game.


                                                JUNIOR DIVISIONS LEAGUE GAMES


                                ANTRIM ROVERS             5              DESERTMARTIN SWIFTS              3

Goals were the order of the day in this game with both teams playing good open attacking football. Jonny Rogers put the Rovers ahead on the 13th minute then got his second goal when he converted a penalty on the 18th minute. Matthew Mulholland pulled a goal back for Desertmartin on the 20th minute before Jonny Rogers completed his hat-trick on the 23rd minute. Craig Evan then scored number four for the Rovers on the 34th minute before half-time. Desertmartin got back into the game with goals from Ryan Brown and Stewart Lennox on the 54th and 71st minutes. Jordan McKelvey then completed the scoring with the Rovers fifth on the 76th minute.                        Referee Mr. Simon McKay

Winning of games comes down to taking your chances in front of goal and on this department Whiteabbey were a little sharper than Brantwood. Whiteabbey went in front after Gerard Reynolds scored on the 16th minute and this score remained at half-time. The game was then going into the last fifteen minutes when Jonny Morgan scored a second for Whiteabbey on the 75th minute to seal the win.                Referee Mr. Paul Aston


SPORT & LEISURE SWIFTS RES                4              COOKSTOWN OLYMPIC               4

It was goals galore in this game with the Sports letting a two goal lead slip past in the final eight minutes of the game. The Sports went in font after Jason Cosgrove scored on the 30th minute then added a second with Brendan Mullan scoring on the 35th minute. Batty Mulligan pulled a goal back for the Olympic on the 40th minute then the Sports got goal number three scored by Brendan Mullan on the 43rd minute. Liam Mullan scored for the Olympic on the 50th minute before the Sports got a fourth goal scored by James Larkin on the 70th minute. Time was then running down with the Olympic still going for goals and getting their reward when Barry Mulligan and Aiden Doyle scoring on the 83rd and 89th minutes.           Referee Mr. Gary Crawford

Woodlands had to fight to win this game as Ballyclare matched then in every department except scoring a goal less, Woodlands went in front after Stuart McCullough scored from the Penalty Spot then saw Ballynure equalise after John Davey scored before half-time. The second half saw little to choose between the teams except the goal scored by Jonny Parkes that won the game for Woodlands.

The surprise in this game was the lack of goals compared to the number of chances created by both teams throughout the ninety minutes. No doubt both teams will create less chances in futures game and possibly score more goals.                            Referee Mr. Tommy Waide

RBL went in front after Aaron McPartland scored on the 4th minute then Stephen Quigley replied with the equaliser on the 9th minute. RBL went in front for a second time after Ross McDonald scored on the 17th minute and this score remained at half-time. Northend got back on level terms after Matthew Logan scored on the 64th minute then went in front when Stephen Quigley scored his second goal on the 75th minute. Stoppage time was then being played when Aaron McPartland scored the equaliser for RBL.               Referee Mr. Bert Purdy

The Athletic took an early two goal lead after Ryan Clawson scor4ed on the 5th and 10th minutes. Jack Carse then got a third goal for the Athletic on the 30th minute. After half-time the Athletic scored two more goals through James Murray and a penalty by Ryan Clawson to complete his hat-trick. Aaron Richards pulled a goal back for Red Star before Matthew Roscoe completed the scoring for the Athletic.     Referee Mr. Trevor Higgins

This was a cracking cup tie with both teams giving it their all for the entire ninety minutes. The big difference was when it came to making best use of the chances created Rathcoole were way ahead of Castle scoring four goals in the second half through Ross Watters (2), Jordan Bright and Taylor Blair.

Killymoon got off to a great start with Warren Smith scoring on the 2nd minute and at half-time this goal separated the teams. The Colts got back on level terms after Mark Larmour scored on the 68th minute setting the game up for a grand-stand finish. Time was running down for both teams when Warren Smith scored his second and the winner for Killymoon on the 84th minute. Referee Mr. Kenny Bigger

After a steady start by both teams Ballynure went in front after Aaron Kirkwood scored on the 17th and this goal was quickly followed by a second scored by Lee Apsley on the 19th minute.. Half-time saw Ballynure still two goals ahead which then became four when Jonny Kane and Aaron Kirkwood scored on the 55th and 68th minutes. To their credit Greenisland never gave up getting a consolation goal when Joel McMurtry scored on the 89th minute.                               Referee Mr. Charlie Pollock

This was a good win for Newington and takes them into the last sixteen teams in the competition. Newington goals were scored by Daniel Moore (2) and Daniel White (2)
