There were wins for Bangor, Glebe Rangers and St James Swifts which puts the teams into the last sixteen of the County Antrim Steel & Sons Cup 4th Round. Si James will now be at home to Glentoran U20s while Bangor will be at home to Albert Foundry and Glebe Rangers travel to Rosemount Rec to be played on 23rd September.

In the Mid-Ulster Bob Radcliffe Cup Cookstown Youth and Cookstown RBL progress to the second round while Coagh United were beaten on penalty kicks at Camlough.

In the North West Craig Memorial Newtowne FC recorded a good home win over Oxford United Stars while Desertmartin lost at home against Maiden City.

In the IFA junior Cup Brantwood Res were the only team to progress from the four teams playing in the Competition.

Games between these two teams have always been close affairs and Saturday’s game followed this trend. No goals had been scored at half-time then Zac McConnell scored on the 55th minute putting Dunloy ahead in the game. Brantwood were back level after Tony Burns scored on the 61st minute and this completed the scoring on the Day.                    Referee Mr. Ian Getty

Sofia went in front after Roberson Ribeiro scored on the 6th minute then followed this with a second goal scored by Francisco Gusmao on the 25th minute. Sofia extended their lead after Raul Garcia scored on the 34th minute and made it four nil on the 44th minute when Francisco Gusmao scored.    Referee Mr. Barry Maxwell

This was another big win for the Swifts after their win over Lisburn Rangers in the previous round. Eugene Gallagher scored twice for St James before the home side pulled a goal back. As half-time was approaching Sean Donnelly restored St James two goal lead. Eugene Gallagher completed his hat-trick early in the second half before Terry McGrath made it 5-1. Derriaghy pulled a goal back late in the game but St James had the final say scoring a sixth goal before the final whistle.

Bangor made a number of new signings prior to the window closing and this has shown in their last couple of results. Both teams had hit the cross-bar before half –time but no goals were scored. Bangor then went in front thorough a great free kick from Mark Magennis then went two clear after Dwayne Beattie scored. Time was almost up when the Olympic scored but Bangor were home and dry by then.

Ballynure went a goal behind in the first-half then goals scored by Michael Duff and Kyle Agnew saw them go in front. Time was running down when Newington got back level then two late goals saw them progress to the next round.

Glebe took an early lead after Peter Kennoway scored then a brace of goals scored by Chris Nicholl saw Glebe three goals clear at half-time. The second half saw Glebe control the game for a good win.

Desertmartin went in a half-time losing by two goals to nil. Desertmartin tried hard to get back into the game in the second half but found the City to be a hot handful who scored another four goals without reply.

Newtowne got off to a brilliant start with Gerard Logue scoring in the 1st minute of the game. After this early goal Newtowne were content to sit on their lead inviting Oxford to push forward. This policy paid off when Paul McIvor nipped through to score a second goal for Newtowne on the 70th minute sealing the win.

The Youth making their debut in the competition certainly had to be on top of their game to get the win. A goal scored by Jack Glasgow early in the first-half saw the Youth through at the final whistle.


                                CAMLOUGH ROVERS     2              COAGH UNITED 2 (Camlough win 4-2Pens)

A penalty converted by Andy Neil on the 27th minute saw Coagh in front then Camlough drew level on the 38th minute. Coagh went in front again after William Ferguson scored on the 84th minute but a minute later the teams were back level. Extra-time was played and with no goals Penalties were taken with Camlough converting four against Coaghs two.

RBL making their first appearance in the competition were certainly up to the task and held the home side to a scoreless first-half. RBL then went in front after James McPartland scored on the 55th minute and held this advantage until the final whistle.

Ballynure went in front after Kyle Abernethy scored on the 25th minute and at half-time this goal divided the teams. Desertmartin got back level when Ryan Barr scored on the 67th minute giving the teams a point each at the end.    Referee. Mr. Bert Purdy


SPORT & LEISURE SWIFTS RES                 1              FC WHITEABBEY              2

After a good start by both teams Karl Douglas scored putting Whiteabbey in front on the 33rd minute. Sports came back to equalise when Sean McKenna scored on the 43rd minute. Both teams went for the winner in the second half which went to Whiteabbey with Chris Loy scoring on the 75th minute.

This was a big win for Woodlands who finished runners-up to Newington in the league table last season. An own goal saw Woodlands go in front then goals scored by saw Newington in front at half-time. Woodlands then went on to dominate the second half scoring four goals through a hat-trick from Alex Haggan and a goal scored by Jonny McFetridge setting a marker to the rest of the teams with this win.

Killymoon went in front after Kieran Thompson scored then Tom Dougan put the Old Boys level before half-time. Killymoon went in front for a second time after Chris McNicholl scored early in the second half and sealed the win when Trevor Brownlee scored their third goal.                Referee.  Mr. Trevor Higgins

Greenisland went in front after Neil Bradshaw scored on the 11th minute then to nil after Gary Kelly scored on the 29th minute. Carrick replied with Ryan Clawson scoring on the 41st minute then goals for Greenisland from Ryan Coates 45th, Jordan Hastings 50th and Gary Kelly 81st minutes completed the scoring.

Goals scored by Jordan Bright on the 21st and 30th minutes saw Rathcoole go two goals clear. Two more goals scored by Tyler Blair and Ross Watters on the 36th and 43rd minutes saw Rathcoole four goals in front at half-time. An own goal on the 46th minute made it five nil followed by gaols scored by Andrew Neil 59th, Alex Crawford 70th, Jordan Bright 80th and Alex Crawford 87th minutes completed the scoring.

Northend playing in the competition for the first time started off slowly then conceded an early goal in the 10th minute. After this Northend got going and were back on level terms after Robert McCluney slotted the ball past the visiting keeper on the 33rd minute. The second half saw nothing between the teams then a bit of a fluke goal when a visiting player lobbed the ball forward from the half-way line that eluded the Northend keeper ending up in the Northend net on the 90th minute.

Brantwood were seldom in any trouble in this game winning comfortably at the end of Ninety minutes.

Grove went in front in this game then as half-time approached Marc Campbell equalised for Ballyclare. Early in the second half Dylan Lematheu put Ballyclare in front but Grove hit back wit three goals to win the game.

Silverwood were much sharer in this game than RBL who took a while to settle. Nicky Jackson scored for RBL which on the day was not enough.
